Many who post to the web only think in terms of their friends, or others of their age or interest group. The truth is that web 'stuff' can be viewed by ANYONE - so just as you wouldn't tell personal information to a seemingly disreputable person on a street corner, you should be care of what you say and how you say it on 'web based venues.
\n
\nIf you wouldn't say it or do it in front of a 'sleaze-ball' - DON'T do it electronically!
\n
\nAlso its difficult to judge someones tone via text. I have sometimes posted something that I was thinking of in a certain way, and thank goodness, it was a friend who read it, who could check back with me to ask - did you really mean what it sounded like? At which point I could say - oops! - When you post in a public forum, you need to be careful of how you come across.
\n
\nThere are ways to disagree with someone without being rude.
\n
\nSo - read through the link - respond and comment.

Many people have access to the internet nowadays, so this is why we should be more careful about what we say. As a result, this is why the Wiki-Code is important.
\n
\nI think we should treat the web as if it were a little electronic society, and if there's something that we normally would not do out in the real world, like give our pictures or phone numbers to random strangers, then we should not do that on the web. Most importantly, we should present ourselves well by using correct grammar, like the Wiki-Code says. To a certain extent, what we write reflects what kind of people we are, so we should present ourselves in a positive manner. This includes being responsible and using common sense.
\n
\nThe internet is a very powerful tool, but we should learn how to use that power properly, which is why we should follow the Code.","dateCreated":"1202619145","smartDate":"Feb 9, 2008","userCreated":{"username":"nnt1924","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/nnt1924","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1202793136\/nnt1924-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"2734830","body":"I agree with both of you guys and believe that the internet can be a scarry sight. People these days are getting all the information they need offline and trying to steal identities. This is a scarry sight. I think that everyone should be careful on what they say and do on the internet because anyone could possibly get a hold of what someone says or does.
\n
\nI think that the web is a great tool and should just be used wisely. As long as no one does anything "not so smart" then the web can be very useful. But giving out personal information about yourself can cause problems. If people treated the web as a stranger, then no one would ever get caught up in a web problem.
